Jeep®
Jamborees are off-road adventure weekends that bring
together the outdoors, down-to-earth people, and their Jeep 4x4s. These
off-road treks have a long tradition dating back to 1953 when 4x4 pioneer
Mark A. Smith organized the first-ever Jeep Jamboree and voyaged across
the Sierra Nevada Mountains by way of the old Rubicon Trail. In 1954, Willys Motors — then manufacturer of Jeep vehicles — became involved with
the adventure, and Jeep Jamborees have been an off-road tradition ever
since.
A member of the Off-Road Hall of Fame and the Explorers Club,
Mark A. Smith also led the 1978-79 Expedicion
de las Americas — a 20,000-mile odyssey from the bottom of South America
to the top of North America, crossing the infamous Darien Gap — and headed
the 1987 Camel Trophy in Madagascar. Since founding Jeep Jamboree USA in
1982, he’s become a Jeep brand consultant and conducts intensive training
for the U.S. Army Special Forces and various law-enforcement agencies. The
Smiths’ Jeep Jamboree USA conducts over 30 family-oriented Jeep 4x4 trips
nationwide and is truly a family business. Daughter
Jill, President and CEO, brings camaraderie
and excitement to thousands of Jeep 4x4 owners annually, while son-in-law
Pearse Umlauf, Vice President and General
Manager, is focused on expanding Jeep Jamboree USA, which is the world’s
largest Jeep adventure company.

2008 SCHEDULE IS ANNOUNCED! Registration starts Dec 1, but you can see a

1st Jeep Jamboree Challenge
(NEW!)
Date: November 1 - 2 Trail Rating: 3 - 9 Pricing: $225.00 (Adult) /
$95.00 (Child 6 – 12)
PEARSALL, TX – So you've graduated from pavement pounder to rock
crawler...you've got the right Jeep, you've handled the toughest Jamboree
trails...you're not quite ready for the Baja 1000, but still; if only
there were a place to compete and show off your hand-learned Jeeping
skills...well, dream no more, your chance is here.
Welcome to the Jeep Jamboree Challenge. Its fun, family friendly, full
of camaraderie and all the other things you love about Jeep Jamborees, but
with the added thrill of competition. Whether your specialty is mud pit
racing, rock crawling or all around off-roading, you'll find a competition
that suits your style. You'll also get a chance to preview upcoming Jeep
models and test drive current Jeep products in an off-road environment.
That environment is the rugged Tire Vehicle Test Center near San Antonio,
Texas. The Tire Vehicle Test Center is the place manufacturers take their
products to see if they've got what it takes to handle the demands of
serious off-roading. The facility is not open to the public, so the Jeep
Jamboree Challenge is a rare chance to get behind the scenes at a real
factory test site. In addition to awards and bragging rights, all class
winners will be invited back in 2009 to defend their titles.
Two dinners and a special event t-shirt are included in this trip, and
all drivers are required to have previous off-roading experience to be
eligible for the Jeep Jamboree Challenge. Vehicles must be “street legal”
with a valid DMV registration.
